Alma 29:9,10
I know that which the Lord hath cammanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.

And behold, when I see many of my brethren truly penitent, and coming to the Lord their God, then is my soul filled with joy; then do I remember what the Lord has done for me, yea even that he hath heard my prayer; yea, then do I remember his merciful arm which he extended towards me.

Me and My Boy

Hey Family!

So this week was pretty crazy! And awesome! But yeah basically Elder Brannock and I visited a lot of our favorite investigators and recent converts on Monday night and Tuesday, and then Wednesday morning I picked up my new companion, fresh out of the MTC, Elder Crain. He is a great missionary!

He is from Arkansas, and has only been a member of the church for one and a half years! He comes from a southern Baptist background and he is the only member in his family. His family is pretty supportive but they just don’t entirely understand why he had to go while he only had 2 more years of college. But man, am I glad he decided to come out! This kid is great and the work is going to be awesome this transfer here in Alpine!

My hat goes off to non-member parents that support sons and daughters on missions. It can be a challenge for members to send their children out even when we understand the importance of the gospel message. It would be that much more difficult when you do not have that same understanding. Thank you to the Crain family for their faith and support of their son. I hope that the experience he has will touch their hearts and they will feel the joy of the work their son is involved in.

Elder Crain looks a little scared. I hope you are able to help him feel comfortable and confident. He has come to Alpine for a purpose and from what you have said about your investigators it seems evident that he will have a lot to offer them. It is my hope that you can keep the momentum going and share an amazing time together as you teach the gospel to Heavenly Father's children.

Anyways as far as the work goes, this week Elder Crain and I found 4 new investigators! And we have had a lot of awesome lessons with our current investigators! We have Megan the 9 year old girl from Alpine back on date to get baptized this upcoming Saturday and one of our new investigators Ciera is getting baptized next Saturday as well. She is 9 also and we are having dinner with her and her family tonight! Also we picked up this new investigator family (or I guess it is just a mother and her daughter) the mother is probably in her 60's and the daughter in her 30's. We taught the most awesome plan of salvation lesson to them just a couple nights ago! The spirit was incredible! We decided to teach this lesson because the Mom’s husband had just recently passed away from some sort of Lung disease. I guess just a few days before he had passed he told them that he wished that he would have joined the LDS faith. So that was a true blessing because they have really opened up their hearts to hear what we had to say! Both of them told us that we had really cleared up a lot of the questions that they have been having and they want us to come back very soon! It was such a blessing to be able to introduce Elder Crain to this mission in that kind of way!

Anyways things are just going really well and training has been great! I will keep my email short this week so I can send some of the pictures that I took of my new comp and I! I hope everyone is doing well! Anyways I Love you all and will talk to you soon! Also conference was awesome! Ok I love you Bye!

Utah Provo Mission Map
From Wyomings boarder to the four corners and into Colorado and Arizona there is work to do.

A little history of the UTAH, PROVO MISSION

In the late 1970's there was only one mission in Utah. As the work grew the mission was divided into areas to cover the North and South of the state. On January 1, 1989 the Utah, Provo mission was formed from a division of the Salt Lake City North and South missions. President Magnusson was called to open the mission. Today President Neil Pitts serves as President.

The area the mission currently covers was for the most part in the former Utah, Salt Lake City South Mission. During the time President Humphreys lead the mission, it was expanded to include Blanding, Monticello and Montezuma Creek. At this point the mission area took in all of Utah south of the Uintah Mountians.

With the creation of the Utah Salt Lake City South Mission the northern area of the mission was altered slightly. In addition Panaca and Mesquite Nevada were moved to the Nevada, Las Vegas Mission.

On July 1, 2010 the Utah Provo Mission was divided again. In this split the Utah, St George Mission was created. There are a large number on non-members that live in the St. George area and more are moving in. As you can see from the map below the Utah, Provo Mission will cover a realtively small area but there will still be much work to do.
