Alma 29:9,10
I know that which the Lord hath cammanded me, and I glory in it. I do not glory of myself, but I glory in that which the Lord hath commanded me; yea, and this is my glory, that perhaps I may be an instrument in the hands of God to bring some soul to repentance; and this is my joy.

And behold, when I see many of my brethren truly penitent, and coming to the Lord their God, then is my soul filled with joy; then do I remember what the Lord has done for me, yea even that he hath heard my prayer; yea, then do I remember his merciful arm which he extended towards me.

Ji Yun's Baptism

This week the work slowed just a little as the students has spring break. Too bad missionaries don't get spring break. hahaha

Hey!

The best part of the week would have had to been Ji Yun's baptism! It was so good!

She definitely did not want to go under the water though... After she got dunked she popped up out of that water quicker than Sadie the pit bull did! It was so funny! At the baptism while Ji yun was getting dressed we had a quick little testimony meeting and what was really cool was that Ji yun’s non member friend Jiji who we have been teaching over the past couple of weeks stood and bore her testimony! It was so good! She talked to us afterwards and said that she will definitely be ready to be baptized by April 9th even though her parents really don’t want her to! It is amazing how these girls have truly turned their hearts towards Christ! They have had the Mosiah experience (Mosiah 5:2 And they all cried with one voice, saying: Yea, we believe all the words which thou hast spoken unto us; and also, we know of their surety and truth, because of the Spirit of the Lord Omnipotent, which has wrought a mighty change in us, or in our hearts, that we have no more disposition to do evil, but to do good continually.) even though the only reason they started the lessons was because they wanted reduced tuition at BYU. But now after hearing their prayers and testimonies it is obvious that they have been converted!

It was good to read the scripture in Mosiah and give it some introspection. Where am I at when it comes to the disposition to do evil or the look of my countenance? I remember when Sam Merrill's mother was in the final months of her life. Sam quoted that scripture to describe the final years of her life. It is a wonderful goal to live with this type of faith and assurance everyday. Humility seems to be the key. I would so like to meet some of these wonderful people Landon is describing. They hold a special place in his heart and always will and it would be great to share that with him. I guess it helps make sense as to the reason parents go to the mission field to pick up their missionary.
Any way maybe the missionaries got a little bit of missionary rest this week. One thing is for sure and that is they will be going 100% plus again this coming week. After all there are spiritual lives on the line here......

Here are a couple of posters Landon thought were funny. It is the censorship for mermaids at BYU. Makes sense that Mermaids should be modest too right?

Utah Provo Mission Map

Utah Provo Mission Map
From Wyomings boarder to the four corners and into Colorado and Arizona there is work to do.

A little history of the UTAH, PROVO MISSION

In the late 1970's there was only one mission in Utah. As the work grew the mission was divided into areas to cover the North and South of the state. On January 1, 1989 the Utah, Provo mission was formed from a division of the Salt Lake City North and South missions. President Magnusson was called to open the mission. Today President Neil Pitts serves as President.

The area the mission currently covers was for the most part in the former Utah, Salt Lake City South Mission. During the time President Humphreys lead the mission, it was expanded to include Blanding, Monticello and Montezuma Creek. At this point the mission area took in all of Utah south of the Uintah Mountians.

With the creation of the Utah Salt Lake City South Mission the northern area of the mission was altered slightly. In addition Panaca and Mesquite Nevada were moved to the Nevada, Las Vegas Mission.

On July 1, 2010 the Utah Provo Mission was divided again. In this split the Utah, St George Mission was created. There are a large number on non-members that live in the St. George area and more are moving in. As you can see from the map below the Utah, Provo Mission will cover a realtively small area but there will still be much work to do.
